The challenge
A Taste of Tradition:Crafting the Digital Presence for Truffière Duthil
Truffiére Duthil, a new truffle farm in Australia’s Central West, needed to bring their business to life online. My role was to translate their ideas, aspirations, deep-rooted heritage and commitment to quality into a stunning and functional Wordpress Website.
This case study details my collaboration with Truffiére Duthil to create a bespoke WordPress website that serves as both a marketing tool and a foundation for future e-commerce growth.
Goal 1
Solidify a creative direction and web style guide.
The director had a strong sense of the brand’s aesthetic and had a vertical logo created for the brand, but needed a partner to bring his ideas to life in detail.
Goal 2
Building a Scalable Foundation for future growth: The initial product offering would be limited, but the business aimed for future growth. The website needed to be a simple marketing site initially, but robust enough to support more e-commerce features down the line.
My approach
A Rooted Collaboration
My process was a true partnership, built on regular meetings and seamless collaboration. I worked closely with Truffière Duthil's director Philippe, listening to his story and understanding the traditional values that defined his business. This deep dive allowed me to develop a design strategy that was authentic to what Truffière Duthil needed, and respectful of Philippe's vision while also providing my professional guidance. We focused on creating a website that would be easy for Philippe to amend as needed and that would resonate with his discerning customers in the fine dining industry. The deliverables included:
Visual Identity & Strategy
Providing guidance on the overall visual direction for the website; I focussed on: page structure, layout, fonts, colour scheme, website elements such as transition animations, buttons and imagery that would communicate the unique essence of the business values and offering.
During this process I created an alternative horizontal logo that complemented the existing vertical one and could be used seamlessly across all digital and print materials alongside the original logo.
User-Centric Design
The site’s user experience (UX) was designed for clarity and simplicity. We crafted a journey of a farm to table experience at Truffière Duthil, which is very different to that of a mass-production Truffle Farm.
The journey guides visitors through the multi-generational history of the Duthil Family Truffle cultivation, the story of Philippe’s unique professional background in Chinese Penjing and organic horticulture and the unique qualities of the specific Truffle product that they cultivate.
Bespoke WordPress Development
I built a WordPress site that was not only visually stunning but also incredibly easy for the client to manage. This self-sufficiency was a key requirement, allowing the Truffière Duthil Director to update written content, images, and product information with ease post-launch.
We also factored-in planned future additions to the site such as eCommerce functionality, account creation, waitlist functionality and other features that the Director hopes to add as his business grows.
Commercial Writing Guidance
I provided strategic input on the website’s initial copy, guiding the client with key concepts of writing for the web. Ensuring the text was compelling, clear, and persuasive, moving visitors from curiosity to a desire to purchase.
As the client intends to self-manage the website content, it was important for me to take the time to provide this service to set them off on the best foot possible.
Collaborative Partnership
We worked hand-in-hand with Truffière Duthil’s SEO and website hosting partner, ensuring a smooth and successful launch. The client feels confident I can provide ad-hoc support after the launch, giving peace of mind and flexibility for ongoing updates.
Client feedback
"Valeria was sensitive to our preferences and helped guide us in the right direction. She added so many refined touches with animations and imagery to our site, it feels so premium. She went above and beyond our expectations. I would absolutely recommend her services.”
